One sunny spring day and people get silly headed. Shorts, tees and flip-flops abound, snow and lingering frosty mornings be damned.
Cardinals too, graze solitary on our deck all winter, guarding their private culinary cache, aggressively chasing all competition.
Spring sun arrives and they share their precious seeds, feeding each other beak to beak, a love fest.
I rise above, not easily seduced silly by fickle sunshine.
I unpack the new tent and pitch it in our living room. “Time to get ready for summer camping” I tell my love. “Come in and check out our pretty vacation home.”

There’s an inch of snow on our deck this morning. But the birds are acting twitterpated, so there’s hope!

I wish you a speedy melt! I’m in Florida but my friend’s and family in Minnesota and NH have suffered.

We are in Kentucky so our true suffering is minimal compared to the volume of our whining. I lived in Upstate NY for many years, so the climate here is actually mild for me even when it’s a ‘bad’ winter. I have learned from the locals here to stock up on milk and bread when a few flurries are predicted after 30 years of living with ‘snowmegedden’ panics.

Lol I get it. I lived in NH most of my life and suddenly if it gets below 60 I’m whining and huddling under blankets until it’s over. I actually poster about the different perspectives of cold. 😂

Ha! Nicole, that’s a perfectly silly vacation home! I’m tempted to set up the tent on top of the snow. We do get twitterpated this time of year — drunk on spring sunshine.

I am sitting here with an empty glass waiting for that intoxicating moment when the elusive sun gets word that it is spring! So far your prompts have surpassed the sun in bringing brightness to our ‘sprinter’ days. Thanks again for the gift of community!

That makes me happy to know I can spread sunshine from the land of snow! Community is a gift we all can share and I’ll drink a glass of future spring to that!

What’s the use of sun if you can’t go silly in it? 🙂

I love this, Nicole. That is my type of camping! You seduced me with prose, making me think this was going to be a serious piece, then wham! An awesome punch line. -Molly

Thank you, Molly. I am glad Charli is encouraging a bit of silliness. Sometimes that’s a deep root to tap!

LOL. What a great idea to pitch the tent in the living room. All the creature comforts available and none of the cold stuff that is still lying around.
